Charter. Also present for the launch were Permanent Secretary, Ministry

Charge of the Section.)
On May 12 the Minister for Gozo, the Hon. Giovanna Debono, and the Minister for Justice
and Local Government, the Hon. Austin Gatt, presided over the launch of the Quality
Service Charters of the Elderly and Special Needs Section in Gozo and the Gozo
Examinations Centre.
The launch of these two Service Charters follows that of the Central
Public Library which took place during a media launch as part of this years Public
Service Week activities.
The Elderly and Special Needs Section offers a number of essential
services to the aging population in Gozo and to persons with special needs. Home Help Care
is the most popular service, followed by assistance to persons with incontinency problems
and the Telecare and Handyman services.
The Elderly and Special Needs Section Service Charter informs the
public about the services that are available, gives details regarding eligibility criteria
and outlines the procedure the customer must follow in order to obtain the service. It
also sets out the standards of service customers can expect and what action can be taken
when the service rendered is not considered to be up to standard.

(Mr
Anthony Mercieca, Officer in Charge of the Gozo Examinations Section
addresses the press at the launch of the Quality Service Charter as Mr
Joseph R. Grima, Permanent Secretary, OPM, looks on.)
The Gozo Examinations Centre, on the other hand, offers a number of services to
students, including processing of application forms, publishing results of examinations,
issuing certificates and offering access to syllabuses and past papers. The Centre also
makes special arrangements for persons with special needs and offers an advisory service
to students.
The Gozo Examinations Centre aims to meet the expectations of students, parents and
teachers. It welcomes comments and suggestions through a number of channels, including a
feedback form enclosed with the Charter that can be filled in and deposited in the
suggestion box at the Examinations Centre.
Copies of these Quality Service Charters are available from the Elderly and Special
Needs Section in the Department of Customer Services in the Ministry for Gozo and from the
Gozo Examinations Centre in Fortunato Mizzi Street, Victoria, Gozo. |
