27th December 2001 : Quality Service Charter at the Gozo Health Centre and Outpatients' Department

During the press conference held to mark the launch of the Gozo Health Centre and Outpatients' Department charters, Minister for Gozo Giovanna Debono explained what changes were carried out during these last three years within the health services in Gozo which led to the launch of 2 Quality Service Charters.

Among these changes were the introduction of a Health Council for Gozo, the first Renal Unit for Gozo and a new Isolation Unit as well as an extension to the Outpatients' Department.  New services were also introduced, such as Acupuncture, and the services of an Nutritionist and Orthodontist

Dr Anthony Livori, Medical Superintendent affirmed the commitment that the Outpatients' Department has made with the launch of the Quality Service Charter and expressed his intention to launch other Charters within the Gozo General Hospital.

 

Mr Alfred Xerri, Deputy Nursing Officer at the Victoria Health Centre expressed his satisfaction that despite the increase in patients from 19,551 in 1991 to 56,265 in 2000, the service provided by the Health Centre increased in quality to the extent that a Quality Service Charter could be launched.
