How we monitor our performance
If you are not satisfied with our service
At
the Cleansing Services Department within the Ministry for Resources and
Infrastructure, we participate in the delivery of specialised waste management
services, particularly public cleansing. We provide cleansing services to Local
Councils that have a contract with us, Central Government and various entities
on special occasions.
Our
charter tells you about our services and the standards that you can expect from
us in line with the recommendations of the Charter Support Unit.
Through our charter we are committing ourselves to providing government
entities and the public a quality service, on time.
We
are open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. between 1st
October and 15th June and from 8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. between 16th
June and 30th September.

At
the Cleansing Services Department, our aim is to provide an environment, free
from refuse, rubbish, debris, litter, dirt or any other form of abandoned waste.
We provide cleansing services to Local Councils that have a contract with us,
Central Government and various entities on special occasions where a huge crowd
would be present such as Carnival, village feasts and public concerts.
Emptying
of litter bins, sweeping of urban roads and washing of promenades
We provide a street
sweeping service of urban roads in major towns and villages including the
emptying of litter bins and regular washing of promenades and other central
areas depending on our contracts with Local Councils.
The Street Sweeping
Service includes the regular sweeping of all roads on a scheduled basis. Street
sweepers remove litter and rubbish found on the streets, from the pavement or
grass verge.

We provide a bulky waste
collection service free of charge from households in various localities.
To
book a collection you need to contact your Local Council, call us on 23605144 or
sending an email on customercare.cleansing@gov.mt.
In all cases you need to provide us with your full name, address and
telephone number.
You
will also have to ensure that:

you the date and time when you can leave your items outside for us to come
and collect them

bulky waste within five working days from receiving your request by
telephone or email.
We keep arterial roads free
from litter and other waste. We also remove carcasses of dead domestic animals
and remove dry unwanted grass from these roads. We also carry out washing of
tunnels and pedestrian crossings regularly.
We will respond quickly to
requests for the removal and disposal of dead animals found in arterial roads.

The
upkeep and manning of public conveniences
We
carry out manning, upkeep and maintenance of public conveniences.
There
are 115 public conveniences located at various localities in Malta.
The department is responsible for the upkeep and manning of 75 of these.
Public
conveniences are open daily between 7.00a.m and 7.00p.m. from Monday to Sunday
including Public Holidays, except
on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Opening
times are extended in summer up to 10.00 p.m.
Most of these public
toilets, especially those situated on beaches, are equipped with nappy changing
facilities and are accessible for the disabled.

we monitor our performance
Assessing how well we
perform against our charter standards is an important element for your
satisfaction. We maintain our
standards by taking into consideration queries, complaints or requests we
receive from you and by conducting customer surveys.
We also review our chartered standards periodically.
